This 53-year-old professional woman had lost a fair amount of weight and wanted to do something nice for herself. She felt like she looked older than her age, and looked tired and sad all the time. She met with Dr. Griffin to discuss all of her options. Potential areas for improvement included loose skin in the upper eyelid, lower eyelid bags and fine lines around the eyes. Perhaps the biggest area for improvement was the shape of her eyes… they were downslanting which makes a person look sad all the time. Also, her lower eyelids were a little loose which gives the eye an aged appearance…young eyes are wide and not very tall (oval), older eyes are less wide and more tall (more circular) due to the eyes receding into the skull to some degree and due to lower eyelid laxity.
Her surgery was a case where a lot of relatively small things add up to a nice and natural result. She had a temporal browlift to stabilize her brow position and make them a little more arched. She had an upper blepharoplasty to remove the extra strip of skin there. In the lower eyelid/cheek, she had fat removed through an incision on the inside of the eyelid, making this incision invisible. She had fat grafting to the cheek and tear trough to add permanent volume. MOST importantly, Dr. Griffin tightened her lower eyelids making the eye shape more almond and youthful, which also allowed him to be pretty aggressive with the CO2 laser to smooth the skin there. She looks like herself but 10 years younger, and much happier overall.
