This healthy, young female was diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma of the right ala or nostril. She underwent Mohs micrographic surgery to remove the skin cancer. She was referred to Midwest Facial Plastic Surgery and Esthetic Skincare for reconstruction of her nose. We felt the best option for reconstruction was to provide support of the nostril with a cartilage graft from the septum inside of her nose and a full-thickness skin graft which was harvested from the area in front of the ear. She underwent dermabrasion three months after the initial reconstruction to smooth out the nostril. Photos show her before and over 6 months after procedure to reveal a natural, unoperated appearance with a barely perceptible scar. This patient’s care was provided by Dr. Christopher Tolan at Midwest Facial Plastic Surgery and Esthetic Skincare.
