Sculptra Esthetic (Poly-L Lactic Acid)
Sculptra was developed after it was noted that skin, when healing around a suture site, would increase its production of collagen, the same component of our skin that we lose as we age.
In turn, Sculptra is a liquid form of a kind of stitch/suture material that is often used in surgery. It is mixed with a fluid solution when injected into the skin. As a result, you will look swollen for a few hours until the fluid reabsorbs.
What is Sculptra?
Unlike Hyaluronic Acid, there is no immediate effect from Sculptra and full results may take up to 12 weeks to be realized. During that time, the Poly-L lactic acid in Sculptra is stimulating significant collagen production. In essence, your own skin is regenerating! Typically, several (2-4) injection sessions are performed spaced a month apart. The results of a series of Sculptra injections often appear very natural, and last 2 years or longer. Sculptra cannot be dissolved after it is injected. Click here to learn more about Sculptra Esthetic!
